3. A balance is very important. The usual practice is to observe the lever of the scale. When it is in a balanced state, you can adjust the measurement by hand until it reaches the position of the collimator, and then gently release your hand. During this process, observe and record the oscillation amplitude of the star counting rod. In the loop, when the distance between the upper and lower edges of the collimator is less than or equal to MM, the scale just reaches equilibrium.

(4) After removing the gauge support rod, it will not return for assistance. This phenomenon indicates that the mass of the test weight is lighter than that of the standard weight. The test weight must be used to move the chain until it breaks and reaches equilibrium. Afterwards, slowly remove the test weight and place the lead block added behind it into the entire cavity.
